Abstract. The present paper is devoted to the problem of making learning materials for those who study Russian as a foreign language at B1 – C1 level out of the language environment. The article is devoted to the creation of a textbook of reading texts on cosmetology and cosmetic industry. The textbook is based on authentic, partially adapted texts. They are intended not only for mastering the language of the specialty, but also contain information and terminology necessary for mastering the professional knowledge and competencies that are the object of the academic discipline of cosmetology as part of the medical sciences. Thematic distribution is carried out on the basis of the author's selected 9 thematic areas of cosmetology as a science. The methodical apparatus to reading texts is based on the classification of exercises for pre-textual, pre-textual and post-textual. In addition to enriching the vocabulary, students improve their pronunciation and grammar skills. While working on the texts that in addition to acquiring knowledge and skills in reading and learning new information on the discipline of cosmetology, students get acquainted with information of a country character.
